September 2005 / Fundraising Letter Dear Mideast Peace Supporter, You have shown an interest in CJME over this past year and we really appreciate your interest and support. In October we have an excellent event with Palestinian-American Mubarak Awad coming to speak in Kansas City to further the education on Middle East and its problems. Awad’s talk titled “Up Against the Wall: Can Gandhi’s Principle Work in Palestine?” on October 17 will give us many new insights. See the enclosed flier for more details. One of the cornerstones of CJME’s work is the annual “Christmas in Bethlehem” program, which focuses on the plight of Palestinians in Bethlehem. In 2005 we also co-sponsored a widely-attended lecture series called “Voices of New Hope” lecture series and coordinated a Kansas City protest against Caterpillar for their use in demolishing homes in Palestine. With your financial support CJME can do the following: § Conduct more speaking events in churches and public places to inform and motivate citizens to action. § Invite distinguished speakers from the Middle East and the U.S. that focus on a just resolution to the conflict. § Pressure elected officials and the news media to change their policy or viewpoints. The amount we are recommending is only $25 per year and $10 for any students. If you would like to contribute more for this vital work please don’t hesitate to do so -- we also have contribution levels of $50 and $100. Please make out your checks payable to CJME using the enclosed form and send them to the address shown below. Thank you in advance and I look forward to working with all of you as the year progresses. Sincerely, Ginger Kenney |
