May 31 Fundraiser Kickoff Dinner a Success!

Friends of Middle East Peace:

The kickoff to fundraising for Hope Flowers School in Bethlehem exceeded our expectations. We raised $1700 at the fundraising dinner last Thursday (5/31/07) at Holy Land Café in Overland Park. There were 45 people attending, showing their outstanding generosity towards the $10,000 local campaign goal in 2007. Thank you each and everyone!

Members of New Song Church, Disciples Peace Fellowship and the Peace/Justice Group of Grace Covenant Church joined the dinner for the fellowship, food and fun. These groups along with CJME are working together to show Palestinians that Americans support their peace and democracy elementary school. Everyone had such a great time that many asked when we'd do it again, so watch for news of our next FUNdraiser in support of the children. If you were unable to attend the fundraiser dinner, there are two new ways for you to contribute to Hope Flowers School.

Hope Flowers School T-Shirts

Brand new Hope Flowers School t-shirts were first available at the dinner and are for sale on-line. Go to http://www.cjme.org/hfs/tshirts.htm to place your order using a major credit card or Paypal account. The t-shirt cost is $20, which includes free shipping.

"Chip In" with your donation online today!

Citizens for Justice in the Middle East is working with a new internet service called "Chip In". This service provides an easy way for you to make a donation to Hope Flowers School using a credit card or Paypal account. Go to the main CJME web page (www.cjme.org) and click the ChipIn! button. The whole ChipIn donation goes to Hope Flowers except for a 2% fee.

Goals of campaign

Citizens for Justice in the Middle East advocates for a more just U.S. foreign policy. Towards that end it has elected to support Hope Flowers School.  When U.S. foreign policy fails to bring about peace between Israel and Palestinians, we can develop “citizen diplomacy” by building people-to-people ties. The goals of this campaign are:

  • Fundraise $10,000 in the Kansas City area for direct support of the school and join with U.S. Friends of Hope Flowers School to raise $100,000 nationally.

  • Educate Americans about the school’s activities and the conditions in and around Bethlehem.

  • Advocate for the protection of the structural and functional well-being of the school by sharing news and reports about the impact of the occupation and wall/fence on students of Hope Flowers School.
