Overland Park, KS -- Participants at the July 2 “Viva Palestina” fundraising event held at the Overland Park Marriott hotel pledged $103,000 for medical relief for Palestinians in Gaza. This generous sum is the largest grassroots fundraising effort for Palestinians in Kansas or Missouri – ever.

A Gaza fundraiser dinner held Friday, January 30 in the Kansas City area, and hosted by CJME with sponsors MAS-Freedom, Peaceworks/KC, and AFSC-KC was a huge success – raised $3800 for direct humanitarian relief.

This presentation by Dr. Jeff Halper was delivered at the KC Sabeel Conference, October 20, 2006 at Village Presbyterian Church, Prairie Village, Kansas. For more information see http://www.kcsabeelconference.org. Dr. Jeff Halper is Coordinating Director of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions and a 2006 nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize. He is an Israeli-American peace activist, professor of anthropology, distinguished author and internationally acclaimed speaker. The 3rd edition of his popular book, "Obstacles to Peace: A Reframing of the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict" was released in 2005. Plenary Session Title: "In Search of a Just Peace in Israel-Palestine: A View from the Ground".
