CJME announces opening of Social Media space

Citizens for Justice in the Middle East (CJME) has been active since 2003 hosting a range of activities, including over a dozen public presentations by American, Palestinian, and Israeli peace advocates; a two-day conference that drew 300 people and 25 Mideast speakers; fundraising that brought in $10,000 for Hope Flowers School and $4,000 for Gaza humanitarian relief; public protests; and legislative visits, to name a few activities.

Many of these activities have been inspired by Palestinians’ profound struggle for liberation from a decades-long Israeli occupation. But we are also proud to have worked with hundreds of Kansas City area residents sincerely interested in learning about the conflict and getting involved in changing US policy in the region.

In the last few years new web tools have emerged that provide unprecedented possibilities for organizations to share information and organize actions. These tools include Facebook, Twitter, Flickr (photo sharing), YouTube, MySpace, and blog sites.

Now the good news – These online tools allow individuals to work together without being in the same room. And in some cases, significant action has taken place!

With the memory of a devastating Israeli attack against Gaza, with the US mired in two conflicts – Iraq and Afghanistan – and with the threat of an attack on Iran, CJME challenges you to use the social networks (see below) to discuss and organize actions against these military campaigns.
